7/8M & 8P:
Both of these classes have received the outline for the Realistic Fiction Book Report, which is due on November 24. Most students have already completed a short reading conference with me to ensure they selected a “just right” book for the assignment and have been given the green light on their choice.

7M:
This class has also been given the Realistic Fiction Book Report assignment; however, no due date has been set yet. Students should be reading their chosen book and working on the Search and Find both at home and in school.

7/8M & 8P – Report is due on November 24.

Thursday, November 13, 2025 – 6/7M FI, 7M, 7/8M, 8P

Our next spelling test will focus on the Canadian Provinces and Territories.

Students have a word search and two related assignments in their Word Work duo-tangs that should be completed before the test.

As part of our writing practice, students will also need to write the date correctly, using proper comma placement. They should be able to spell all of the words in the date shown above.

Our approach to book reports is based on mastery: students either meet expectations or re-do the work until they do. This helps them learn to follow instructions and complete assignments properly the first time. Below are updates by class and report type: 

Picture Book Reports 

• 7/8M – Reports have been marked and corrected. Students are bringing them home for a parent signature. 

• 8P – Reports are marked; students are now working on corrections. 

• 7M – Reports are past due if not yet submitted. They will be marked this weekend. 

• 6/7M – Students are finishing their reports and preparing to hand them in. 

Graphic Novel Reports 

• 7/8M – Reports are past due if not yet submitted. They will be marked this weekend. 

• 8P – Reports have been assigned and are due tomorrow, Oct. 17th. 

Realistic Fiction Book Report 

• 7/8M – Students have received the assignment. They must choose a “Just Right” book by Monday.
