Day 1
Homework
4 Memos for parents to review and or sign.
It wasn’t on the supply list but I’d like students to have a courier bag. They are $1.50 at the Dollar store. A jumbo freezer bag also works. This really helps with organization.
Note to Home
I hope your child had a great first day back—though let’s be honest, they might come home a little tired, and wondering where summer went! That’s completely normal. We had a very full (and yes, exhausting) day with lots of information coming at them. No one is expected to remember everything right away—not even me!
To help with organization, students will be using a duo-tang to record their homework. These are easy to replace if they get lost (because let’s face it, things do go missing sometimes). I ask that you initial the homework log each day—this just lets me know you’ve seen it, and keeps us all on the same page.
Over the next few days, we’ll ease into routines, and things will start to feel more familiar. In the meantime, I do expect students to read for 20–30 minutes daily at home, in addition to any reading they do in class. It’s a great way to unwind, build skills, and settle into the year.
Thanks for your support—we’ve got this!
